Tyler Kempf

Biography

Tyler Kempf is a recent graduate from the University of Michigan and an alumni of the Academic Year in Freiburg Program. He currently serves as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and is a firm believer in the creative nature of the German language.  His work Four Poem Memoriam- Letters to Vauban is a collection of pieces written in response to the liberated nature of the student community -Vauban - in Freiburg, Germany.  In his work he wrestles with the scars and memories of building a life in an international community that fluctuated between German norms and international interactions. Touching on the themes of stereotyping, separation, intimacy, and the intangibly of childlike discovery, He attempts to compile the lessons of his time in Freiburg through the movement of his pen.
