Das Blatt: im Stil unserer Zeit

Mission

Das Blatt is a bilingual undergraduate online publication through the German department of the University of Iowa. This publication strives to encourage cross cultural understanding by creating a platform for students to explore and engage with German language and culture. Through interdepartmental collaboration, we hope to foster an appreciation for and to emphasize the role and utility of German language outside of purely linguistic contexts, as well as promote German as a tool of artistic and emotional expression.  

Submissions

We are currently closed for submissions, but please check back in the spring for updates on submission openings and deadlines. Das Blatt accepts work related to German language and culture in the following categories:

• Creative Nonfiction such as personal essays

• Research Nonfiction such as term papers or essays previously written for courses

• Book/Movie Recommendations

• Creative Writing such as fiction writing and poetry

• Visual Art 

Membership
