Johnathan Melvin is a senior at the University of Iowa from Cedar Rapids, Iowa majoring in Biochemistry, Philosophy, English, and Ancient Civilizations. He is particularly interested in all things philosophical, and how philosophical techniques can be used in other academic fields to hopefully solve problems. Such was the inspiration for this piece, John wanted to see if Adorno's analysis of music at the time of Adorno's writing still holds up now, using the same techniques and methods of analysis.
