Jack Howard is a senior studying Cinema, English, and Creative Writing at the University of Iowa, and will be graduating in May of 2020. He took his first German class during his freshman year, and after a lengthy gap, continued his German studies a few years later. Interested in many kinds of German music, he wrote Neue Deutsche Welle for Das Blatt to introduce people to a lesser-known, but infectious form of 80s pop music from the country. He hopes to continue writing music-focused pieces for Das Blatt in the future.
